Taizé Services
Find Your Quiet Oasis in a Busy and Noisy World
Part of our Lenten observance at St. Mark’s will include offering 6 weeks of Taizé worship services. Taizé worship offers a more contemplative approach to public worship. The service is simple, yet moving; it includes candlelight, prayers, readings, and silence. This style of worship primarily makes use of music written at or for the community of Taizé, in the south of France. The community was established by individuals dedicated to promoting peace among all Christians. Established just after World War II, the community has developed a beautiful, simplistic way of worship which is centered in gentle, repetitious music, silence, and prayer.
You are invited to surrender yourself to God – if only for a moment – devote yourself to peace and justice through prayer, meditation, music, and silence.
If you are looking for a place to slow down and experience the unconditional love of your Creator God, consider joining us in the manner of Taizé Worship. If you are looking for a way to incorporate quiet time with God into your daily walk, this service carries with it a simple template to guide you.
Taizé prayer services start at 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 19 and continues each Friday through March 25th.
"O Lord, Hear our Prayer.”
